Intro: The Big Agnes
- Four season, free standing, deluxe car camping/base camp tent with one large vestibule off main room and one access door off smaller, back room. Tent may be separated into one large room and one smaller room with stowable partition wall.
- Tent body is breathable polyester rip stop, with nylon mesh windows. Fly is durable poyester rip-stop with 1500mm waterproof polyurethane coating. Floor is durable polyester with 1500mm waterproof polyurethane coating.
- DAC Combination Lightweight Aluminum poles with press fit connectors - featuring eco-friendly anodizing. Color coded pole ends, webbing and buckles make set up easy. Sleeves and plastic clips attach the tent body to the pole frame for quick and easy set up.
This is an extremely durable tent; it is fantastic at dealing with strong winds, and is highly recommended for camping in cold weather… If you are going to be dealing with freezing or near-freezing temperatures, this is the tent for you. I can say with certainty (from my own experience) that this is a fine tent that comfortably sleeps a family!
Neat Features
The features are top notch. There are two doors, which are strategically in line with the two vestibules of the tent. Each of these doors has two options for being closed, as well; there is a mesh door which can be zipped by itself to leave a healthy, ventilated breeze free to enter, and another polyester door which can be used if you are looking for more protection from the elements. Though the tent offers the feature of the fabric wall, which divides the tent in two, this optional wall can be stowed away in a very spatially efficient manner. There are also storm flaps which are located on the zipper of the vestibule.
Setting Up
Setting up the tent is quick and easy, as is taking it down. Although some condensation manages to make its way in during heavy storms, this tent is quite admirable in how dry it remains even in tough conditions. It’s a great tent for beginners and camping veterans alike, as its combination of great features, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness makes it a true bargain that poses no risk of being a regrettable purchase.
Price
Considering the price, the cross pole design is a surprisingly effective and advanced technology which certainly contributes to the durability of the camp. It is conveniently large, stays dry in the rain, and stands strong in the wind. What else can you ask for from a tent in this price range? Although it is not perfect, and there are a few small alterations that could potentially be made to the design, the fact that a tent of this quality is available for such a great price is truly a blessing, and presents an opportunity to act upon a great deal!
Verdict
At the end of the day, this tent does exactly what it promises, which is no minor accomplishment. It’s a spacious, four season tent that offers a whole lot of bang for its buck. It is a fantastic tent, and it represents one of the few camping gear items that I totally recommend to anybody looking for an affordable, durable tent that is built with integrity.
